The night sky is made up of many stars – that keep changing position. But some observers have noted for centuries that some collection of stars, while moving in the night sky, maintain a constant relative positions – other wise known as constellation. We may notice the same with color compositions. We can maintain coherent color schemes by maintaining the relative positions of color in color space.
Try moving and rotating the Lab color constellation
While the individual colors may be changed by moving the color constellation in color space, the color logic of the document can be maintained. By color logic we mean the relative positions of the color elements in color space. The constellational view of color schemes allow us to separate color logic from color schemes. In other words, we can change the color scheme while maintaining the color logic.
